Welcome to the Ocean County Compendium of History (OCCH). Here you
will find the history of Ocean County, New Jersey as told through stories and
photographs shared by those who have lived here both past and present.
This site will be posting those stories on a continuing basis, and will serve
as the compendium for all things Ocean County. Simply click on the Ocean County Stories link to access our article archive.
Since its founding in 1850, Ocean County has amassed a vast history that includes local, state, national, and international interests. Prior to its incorporation, Ocean County was part of Monmouth County, so you will also find history dating back to colonial times, as well as contemporary happenings.

The OCCH was launched on February 26, 2011, and is expected to grow
rather quickly as new articles are written and published on the website,
so please visit us often.
